Version 0.4Starting with version 0.4, Location Navigator has been greatly reworked. For the user, you can now select the portion of the location that varies, and how you want to increment that portion. The command keys have been changed so they should now work on the Mac. A Location Navigator submenu has been add to the Go menu. You can now capture and send the original referring location when navigating. You can set a background color on the buttons, if the location is in global history or it fails an HTTP "head" request. A new set of icons have been created, and it has been updated to use the new features in Deer Park. For the developer, the backend has been rewritten. This makes it easy to create different ways to increment the location. Future plans include a custom list incrementor and a date incrementor.
How Does it Work? There are several ways to capture a location so that you can start the navigation process. You can use the "Location Navigator" submenu in the "Go" menu. You can click on the capture button, or drap a location onto it. You can use the shortcut keys ctrl+shift+c. A dialog will open for you to select the portion of the url to increment.
Once you've captured a location select the portion of the location to increment, and how to increment it. A best guess portion will already be selected. If you were holding the control key when you captured, or you have the automatically accept feature turned on, the dialog will assume the guessed portion is correct and close. Currently there are two modes for incrementing, alpha and numeric. Select one of these, and make any adjustment to the settings that are needed. Click here if you want to know how to create more ways of incrementing.
Now you can release the captured location, navigate up, navigate down, return to the start, or start a slideshow. This will increment the part of the location you selected by how you selected to increment it. All the commands are available from the toolbarbuttons, menu items, or shortcut keys. Holding the ctrl key when you start a slideshow will reverse the direction of the slideshow, and all the default modifiers work to open locations in tabs, windows, etc...
Is My Locale Available? If your language is not available for Location Navigator, you can submit a translation that will be included in the release. First make sure that we don't have your locale listed below. If its not there, you can submit your translation here. Thanks for helping make Location Navigator great!
- English (en-US)
- Japanese (ja-JP)
- Italian (it)
What Are the Keyboard Shortcuts?Ctrl will reverse the automatic accept feature when capturing. It will also reverse the direction for slideshows. All the default modifiers work to open locations in tabs, windows, etc... The below shortcut keys do the various functions within Location Navigator.
